Is Your Dog Safe While at Doggy Daycare?

We’ve heard of all the wonderful things that a good doggy daycare can offer your dog: socialization, exercise, and trained caregivers who will supervise your beloved furry companion. 

This was taken when Rumpy attended daycare. This was taken when Rumpy attended daycare.

But there’s so much more that comes from using a doggy daycare. Dogs were infected with a flu strain while attending daycares in Urban Chicago. Several dogs have died as a result.

Twenty dogs boarding in an Arizona daycare died after the air conditioning apparently went out. The dogs were in the care of Arizona Senator Jeff Flake’s son. Investigations found it was a freak accident and no charges were filed.

A pug died of heat stroke while in the care of a Tampa, Florida daycare.

In 2012, a bulldog named Cooper died of heatstroke on his 6th birthday while at a Weymouth, Massachusettes doggy daycare.

Do YOU Know Who Your Vet Is?

Kristen Lindsey was a vet at the Washington Animal Clinic in Brenham, Texas, until she was fired today.

Why was she fired? Because of a Facebook post that went viral.

When commenters asked if she wasn’t worried about losing her job over her actions, Ms. Lindsey posted, “and no I did not lose my job. Lol. Psshh. Like someone would get rid of me. I’m awesome!”

Ms. Lindsey may think she’s awesome, but the vet clinic, local animal control, and the Austin County Sheriff’s Office probably think differently. Their phones have been ringing off the hook today, and the Washington Animal Clinic’s website crashed.

This afternoon the clinic posted the following to its Facebook page:

The “Malamute Mood,” or My Dog is Smarter Than I Am

What a great read, i can totally understand with walking my Two Sibes.

Some days Rumpy and I go for walks and things go smoothly.

And then some days, Rumpy gets into one of his moods.

leprechaun Rumpy is a typical alpha Malamute, which is a nice way of saying he can be stubborn as a mule.

Take yesterday, for example.

We went for a walk on our new route. It’s a new route because a certain dog one day refused to walk the old route any longer.  Our new route takes us down the sidewalk beside a busy street. Why do we now walk this way? I don’t know, but it was either that or not walk at all (yes, he did refuse to walk unless we went “his” way).

Anyway, yesterday he decided that he wanted to take a detour through the parking lot of a building that’s for sale. We went, because I thought he was looking for a place to poop. Instead he maneuvered us…
